Nigerian Gay Rights activist, Bisi Alimi has reacted to the news of Pope Francis formally granting approval for Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples.
KanyiDaily recalls that Pope Francis approved allowing Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples, according to a document released by the Vatican’s doctrine office on Monday.
However, the pontiff has reiterated the Church’s stance that marriage is fundamentally a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.
Reacting in a post on his Instastories, Bisi Alimi highlighted the contrast between the Pope’s acceptance and the resistance from people like “Yetunde in Shomolu” who express concerns about hellfire and the end times.
Bisi commented, “The Pope is blessing same sex union, but Yetunde from Shomolu is shouting hell fire and end time.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Pope Francis became the first pontiff to endorse same-sex marriages, stressing that gay couples should be allowed to have civil union.
