Former Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Odefa Obasi Odefa, has defected his allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Odefa made the move from the PDP to the APC, bringing along 500 supporters from the Onicha East Constituency in his defection.
He revealed this at the state’s Government House in Abakaliki during a visit to Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru
Speaking on his defection, Odefa said his decision to “pitch tent with the APC was to rally round the governor in his efforts to transform the state having studied his good intentions as captured in his manifesto.”
In response, Nwifuru assured the defectors that the APC had an inclusive policy, welcoming all well-intentioned individuals, and promised them a fair and equal opportunity within the party
He also appealed to them to work together with him in enhancing the state’s progress and growth.
Kanyi Daily recalls that Federal High Court in Abuja had sacked 17 lawmakers in Ebonyi State over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
