Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez chastised his players for being wasteful in front of goal after their 1-1 draw with Valencia in LaLiga on Saturday.
The defeat extended the Catalans’ winless streak to three games.
Barça’s Joo Félix opened the score in Mestalla, but Hugo Guillamón equalised for the hosts in the 70th minute.
Xavi’s men had chances to win late in the game, but Ferran Torres and Raphinha both blew them.
Barcelona finished the game with an xG of 3.06, while Valencia had 0.48.
“I’m very upset and sad because we created so many opportunities.” We squandered numerous opportunities. That, I believe, has been the case throughout the season.
“We completely dominate the games. We performed admirably today. It’s unfortunate because we are inefficient. I believe we had five, six, or seven wonderful chances today but could not capitalise.
“It’s what has happened all season. We need to keep going, it’s just one point, which is not enough for us. It’s a pity because we played so well to win this game,” Xavi said after the game.
Barça are now six points behind leaders Girona, who can move nine clear with a win over Alavés on Monday
Kanyidaily recalls that Deco wished to sell Barcelona’s highest-paid player in order to rebuild the team performance.
