Portuguese football star, Cristiano Ronaldo clinched multiple awards at the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the ceremony on Friday, January 19, the Al Nassr striker won the Best Middle East Player award, surpassing competitors Riyad Mahrez and Mohamed El Shenawy.
Adding to his honors, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner received the prestigious Maradona Award for achieving the top scorer status in 2023.
Ronaldo outperformed notable players such as Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, both scoring 52 goals, as well as Erling Haaland, who netted 53 goals during the same period.
The 38-year-old football star also claimed the Fans’ Favourite Player of the Year award during the ceremony.
During his acceptance speech in Dubai, where he was accompanied by his partner, Georgina Rodríguez, Ronaldo expressed gratitude, saying, “I did an amazing season. I have to say thank you to my teammates and my coaches from Al Nassr and the Portugal national team.”
Continuing his speech, Ronaldo shared his pride in receiving the awards: “I never won this trophy… the Best Middle East Player… and Maradona as well. So I will put them with passion in my museum because they are two special ones.
“I am so proud. I have to say thank you to my wife and my kids, they deal with me every day. Sometimes I know I’m a little bit boring but it is my job to be consistent every time. Thank you to Globe Soccer for this amazing award.”
