Controversial disc jockey DJ Chicken has publicly apologized to Afrobeats superstar, Wizkid following severe backlash for his insensitive remarks.
KanyiDaily recalls that DJ Chicken has been facing a social media backlash after making disrespectful statements about Wizkid and his late mother, Jane Dolapo.
In a series of TikTok videos, DJ Chicken criticized Wizkid’s music career, deeming it “dead” and expressing a wish for the singer would soon follow his late mother to the grave.
The derogatory remarks prompted Wizkid’s loyal fan base to mobilize and report DJ Chicken’s TikTok page en mass, leading to its permanent suspension within 24 hours.
Reacting to the development, DJ Chicken threatened to take action against Wizkid in another video where he expressed concern over the money he failed to withdraw from TikTok before his account was suspended.
Following the suspension of his main page, DJ Chicken opened a new TikTik page, but it was also suspended after the account was flagged by Wizkid’s fans.
Facing mounting pressure and consequences, DJ Chicken made a turnaround, issuing a public apology directly to Wizkid.
Expressing regret for his insensitive comments, he appealed to Wizkid for forgiveness, emphasizing that his intentions were lighthearted.
“Machala, no vex; na love dey there. My fans, you’re ruining my mood, you all will be unfortunate. I am not fighting with Wizkid; can I even dare?
“We are all in the industry. You are reporting my account. I am your joy giver and I can take away that joy. What’s your own?” DJ Chicken stated in his apology.
Despite having previously ridiculed Wizkid’s work as subpar, DJ Chicken concluded his apology by playing one of Wizkid’s songs.
