A female marketing employee at a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has tragically ended her own life
The late Amarachi Ugochukwu, aged 32, reportedly ingested insecticide, resulting in her tragic death.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Monday within the bank’s premises.
At about 1 pm, Ugochukwu entered the restroom, where she consumed the insecticide without her colleagues’ knowledge
Other staff members began searching for her as her phone, left on the table, kept ringing with no response. A police source confirmed that Ugochukwu was later found dead in the restroom with the insecticide bottle and her suicide note.
In the suicide note made available, the lady cited the challenging economy as the reason for her decision to end her life, stating that nothing was working in her favor
“Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” she wrote in the suicide note.
In the suicide note, Ugochukwu apologized to her parents and other family members.
“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added.
She concluded by writing, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”
The bank manager had reportedly informed the police that Ugochukwu locked herself in the toilet to commit suicide, and she was found dead when the door was forced open.
The police removed the corpse and deposited it at Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy. The source added that the police in Lagos are investigating the incident.
When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, did not answer multiple calls to his phone, nor did he respond to a text message.
