Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College in Lagos State, has been laid to rest in Warri, Delta State, after two years of seeking justice.
KanyiDaily recalls that Sylvester Oromoni died on November 30, 2021, in controversial circumstances following alleged tortured by some senior students of Dowen College in Lekki.
His death resulting from alleged torture by senior students attempting to initiate him into a cult, sparked condemnation, protests, and controversy.
Despite delays in obtaining justice, Sylvester’s family buried him on Saturday, January, 27, 2024, amidst emotional scenes, with dignitaries present.
The family expressed grief, emphasizing the ongoing quest for justice and celebrating Sylvester’s impact and passion for knowledge.
The family had announced the burial and reiterated their determination to seek justice for their son’s murder.
In a homily during the funeral, Sylvester was celebrated as a devout Christian, with a call for Christians to live worthy lives.
The family vowed to continue pursuing justice, emphasizing their commitment to their departed son’s memory.
Mr Sylvester Oromoni said “as the father of the deceased, I cannot be tired or discouraged from pursuing justice as I have promised my son to get him justice even if it will take thirty years to achieve it.”
