The Bayelsa Police Command has started investigating the death of a mother of three, whose decomposing body was discovered dumped in a gutter along Akali Street in Yenagoa, the state capital.
ASP Musa Mohammed, the spokesperson for the command, verified this information during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday
Mohammed stated that a police team had taken away the body and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death
He said that no suspects have been arrested so far, but the investigation is ongoing to track down those accountable for her death
NAN gathered that the woman’s body was found on Sunday morning, emitting a foul smell from the drainage where she was abandoned.
Eyewitnesses observed indications suggesting that she had been strangled before being dumped into the gutter.
Kanyi Daily recalls that Some community sources described the killing of the Police officers as “revenge” over the arrest, torture, and detention of some suspected kidnappers by the division.
