The FCT Police Command has arrested another suspected kidnapper, as its Special Intervention Squad continues to implement measures to safeguard residents.
The Commissioner of Police responsible for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Haruna Garba, disclosed this information on Wednesday while briefing the press in Abuja.
Garba reported that on January 21, the arrest of the suspect occurred in Sauka village, leading to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim.
He explained that police operatives from Iddo Division responded to a distress call, indicating that armed men in a black Toyota Corolla had targeted and fired at the tires of Suleiman Sabo’s moving Prado jeep.
The CP explained that Sabo, on his way home to Sabon Lugbe, was forcibly stopped and abducted into the kidnappers’ vehicle, leaving his Prado jeep and wife behind.
“The effort paid off on Jan. 21 when the DPO received information that something abnormal was happening in a particular house in Sauka village.
“The DPO moved in and cordoned the house; behold, the kidnapped victim was found with the suspect, armed with a Mark IV rifle and 10 rounds of live ammunition
“He was promptly arrested, and the arm was recovered from him. The victim was rescued, but with gunshot injuries,” the CP said.
According to him, the victim has been admitted to the hospital and is responding to treatment. He emphasized that there have been no reports of kidnapping in the Bwari axis of the FCT since the inauguration of the Special Intervention Squad
