Nigerian singer, Davido has provided business guidance to American rapper, Kanye West amidst the fallout and conflict with the sportswear brand, Adidas.
The split between Kanye West and Adidas became evident after the brand terminated its partnership with the rapper due to a series of controversial statements in 2022.
Despite the separation, Adidas continued to sell the remaining inventory of Yeezy, Kanye’s line with the brand.
In response to Adidas selling a Yeezy design he allegedly never approved, Kanye West voiced his grievances on Instagram, accusing the brand of not giving him royalties for the sneakers sold last year and suing him for $250 million.
In a video shared on Instagram, the rapper claimed that Adidas was producing fake Yeezys and selling them to his fans without his consent.
He lamented the alleged unauthorized production of non-approved colorways and the legal disputes over royalties and his name.
“Let me clearly explain to you guys what is going on with Adidas. Not only are they putting out fake shoes that are not approved, they are suing me for 250 million dollars and they are also not paying me for the shoes that they are putting out that have my name on them.
“They are also using contract clauses and 50 years of business experience to rape an artiste, one of your favourite artistes, in front of y’all, in broad daylight,” he said.
In a previous post, Kanye West encouraged his fans to boycott the brand, and refrain from purchasing the shoes.
“Anybody who loves Ye would not buy these fake Yeezys I never made these colorways I’m not getting paid off of them and Adidas is suing me.
“All the new non-approved 350s are corny and everybody knows the 350 been corny,” he wrote.
In a follow-up post, the rapper expressed his appreciation to his fans and his colleague, Snoop Dogg for standing by him as he noted how their voices are being heard.
He wrote, “Thank you everybody for supporting me in this fight with Adidas. Thank you Snoop and thank you to all my fans. Your words are making a difference right now.”
Reacting to the controversy, Davido, who is currently an ambassador for Puma, took to the comment section and offered an advice to Kanye West.
The singer encouraged Kanye to collaborate with Puma, another prominent sneaker brand. “Come to @puma Ye,” Davido suggested.
