“It’s Madness For Burna Boy To Claim No One Paved Way For Him” – Jaywon [Video]
Nigerian singer, Jaywon has disagreed with fellow musician, Burna Boy who claimed that nobody assisted him in his rise to fame in the music industry.
In an interview with Teju Babyface, Jaywon voiced his disbelief at the notion, deeming it unreasonable for artists to deny the influence and support of those who paved the way for them in their careers.
The singer emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of predecessors and challenged the idea that inspiration and mentorship are irrelevant.
“Burna is the same thing, talented, and everything. It’s like Burna saying no one paved the way for him. How do you say that? It’s a very wrong thing to say. It is madness, it’s like saying when you were little till no one inspired you.
“People will say someone inspired you, is different from someone opening doors for you. Tell me, if someone didn’t do it first, where did people from behind learn it from,” he said.
Taking to his Twitter page, Jaywon further shared his perspective, stating, “It’s not going to take anything from you to give a shoutout to those that came before you…. It won’t stop your greatness. If you know you know!”
