Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, has officially confirmed the arrest of officers involved in extorting N29.9 million from a businessman in Abuja
An X user, @HarrisonBbi18, explained in a video on January 25, 2024, how a businessman was abducted by armed policemen while traveling to one of his sites in Abuja.
The officers allegedly checked the victim’s mobile phones and detained him until he transferred all the money from his bank account to them
Reacting to the post in the comments section, the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, wrote: “Please kindly assist the police by telling the victim to come see me personally (PPRO FCT Police Command) with the evidence of transactions at FCT Police Command. We need your cooperation to bring erring officers like this to book. Or you can call this number: 09022222352.”
Providing an update on the incident in a post on his official X on Tuesday, Adejobi revealed that some of the suspects have been arrested, while investigations remain ongoing.
Sharing the post, Adejobi wrote: “We are making headway on this matter, and justice will be served, as some suspects have been arrested Hakuna Matata.”
