The Nigeria Police Force’s Intelligence Response Team has eliminated notorious kidnappers and gun runners who were terrorizing Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on his official X handle, it was reported that the gang members were eliminated on Thursday by the DFI-IRT of the Nigeria Police Force.
The notorious kidnappers and gun runners were reportedly engaged in supplying weapons to bandits operating within the same area
They were eliminated at their hideout near Gitata, along the Keffi Gidan Wire road in Nasarawa State, with law enforcement recovering four AK-47 rifles, as well as other weapons and ammunition from the scene.
Adejobi emphasized that this operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the police to address crimes and criminality across the nation
The post reads: “The DFI-IRT of the Nigeria Police Force has recorded yet another feat part of the sustained efforts to cleanse the system of criminals, most especially kidnappers
“In the early hours of February 8, 2024, some notorious kidnappers and gun runners, who have been terrorizing Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states, were neutralized by IRT operatives at their hideout around Gitata, along Keffi Gidan Wire Road, Nasarawa State. Similarly, four (4) AK47 rifles, dangerous weapons, and a bag of ammunition were recovered
“This successful operation, conducted in the early hours of Thursday, demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the NPF to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens
“We will continue to employ all necessary measures to rid our communities of criminal elements and maintain peace and order across the nation.”
This follows about a week after the police announced the killing of the leader of a kidnap gang in Abuja
