The peaceful community of Dutse in Jigawa State was disrupted on Thursday after the lifeless body of Esther Adekanla, a 47-year-old woman known as Hadiza Nakowa, was found
A resident reported that Adekanla, a food vendor, was last seen on February 12, 2024, causing concern among neighbors when they couldn’t reach her.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening and was reported to the police.
Police spokesman DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident, stating that detectives from the Dutse Division were mobilized.
They forced entry into her residence, uncovering a disturbing scene.
According to him, “the lifeless body of Esther Adekanla was found in the sitting room, surrounded by visible cuts on her head and neck
“Also, her 11-year-old daughter, Christiana Michael, was discovered alive but unconscious in a locked store with head injuries.”
Both victims were rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Shiisu stated that Esther Adekanla was confirmed dead by a medical doctor, and her body was subsequently transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for autopsy
The State police commissioner, AT Abdullahi, however, ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the apprehension of the suspects. Abdullahi underscored that anyone found guilty would be prosecuted accordingly.
