A magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has ordered that Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Mohbad, be informed about an impending DNA test application through substituted means.

Court Orders Mohbad’s Wife, Wunmi To Do DNA Test

Substituted means involve methods for the formal delivery of court documents that replace personal service.

In a statement issued by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, on Wednesday, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba sought an order to deliver court documents regarding the DNA test to Wunmi by posting them at her last-known address.

The statement explained that the court granted the order after the court sheriff’s attempts to personally serve Wunmi with the court documents twice were unsuccessful.

It also highlighted that the Aloba family is challenging the paternity of baby Liam and has filed an application before the Family Court seeking an order for Wunmi to present herself and baby Liam for a DNA test at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.

Despite expressing readiness for a DNA test, Wunmi has allegedly not made herself available for the court sheriff to serve her the originating motion.

The statement reads, “If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit.

“The Chief Magistrate granted the order and ordered that the respondent be served by posting the court process on her last known address.

“It will be recalled that the Aloba family is contesting the paternity of baby Liam and filed an application before the Family Court wherein it sought an order of the court against Wunmi to present herself and baby Liam for a DNA test at any recognised laboratory in Lagos.”

The statement added that despite saying she was ready for a DNA test in a viral video, Wunmi “had never been available for the court sheriff to serve her the originating motion”.

Odumosu disclosed that the matter has been adjourned until next month for the report of service.

When contacted, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated that they were unaware of the court order.

He said, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order. I am just hearing that from you.”

Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, with his death surrounded by controversies on social media.

KanyiDaily recalls that Wunmi claimed that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba intentionally avoided obtaining a court order for a DNA test on Mohbad’s son, Liam.
