Former Kwara State Senator, Rafiu Ibrahim has died at the age of 57 following a brief illness.

The sad news was confirmed in a statement issued by his family on Wednesday.

The statement expressed the family’s request for prayers and support during this challenging time and indicated that burial arrangements would be communicated later.

“We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen,” the statement read.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq mourned the loss of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, expressing shock and sadness at the news.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to the late senator’s family, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party.

“I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party on this sad development.

“This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone,” according to the governor.

Rafiu Ibrahim, born on December 12, 1966, served as a senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly from 2015 to 2019.

He chaired the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions and contributed significantly to legislative activities during his tenure, sponsoring six bills and supervising eight others.
