Alaba Excel Abbey, a ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-FS), has been fatally shot by gunmen.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday evening at Abbey’s residence in Supare Akoko, within the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state, around 9 p.m.
Samuel Abbey, the elder brother of the deceased, said Alaba had just returned home when he was attacked and killed.
Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that investigations into the incident are currently underway.
“In brief, the command is aware of the incident at Supare. Investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened,” Odunlami-Omisanya said.
Kayode Fasua, the Information Director of LACO-FS, appealed to the police to ensure the safety of its members against such unprovoked assaults by unknown perpetrators.
Expressing shock and sorrow over the tragedy, David Ajobiewe, the Director-General of LACO-FS in Akoko South-West LGA, emphasized that Abey had been a dedicated and non-violent coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organization in Ward 10 of Supare.
“Excel had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of local or domestic dispute.
“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book,” Ajobiewe urged.
