Gihan Mbelu,  the chairman of Victoria Garden City (VGC) in Lekki, was found unconscious in his C300 4Matic car around 10:10 a.m. on Friday, April 25.

He was discovered by concerned residents who noticed his car had been running unattended for hours at the spot where it was parked around VGC, in the Ajah area of the state.

While initial speculation suggested Gihan Mbelu might be asleep, further attempts to awaken him proved futile, prompting concerns about his well-being.

Efforts were made to transport Mbelu to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for medical attention, where he was pronounced dead by attending medical staff.

An eyewitness, Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, who shared details of the incident on his Facebook page, claimed the VGC chairman died of high blood pressure.

Iwuchukwu wrote, “His car was stationary, running for hours, while he lay motionless. They rushed him to the hospital, where they confirmed his death.

“I guess we lost him to the silent killer, high blood pressure. The rate at which 40-year-old men are dropping dead to this silent killer is becoming alarming and worrying.”

The VGC Chirman’s body was subsequently transferred to the hospital’s morgue.
