Hollywood actor Bernard Hill, known for his roles in “Titanic” and “Lord of the Rings,” has died at the age of 79.
Bernard Hill’s death was confirmed by his agent, Lou Coulson, in the early hours of Sunday morning to British media outlets.
The actor, whose performances captivated audiences worldwide, was in the company of his fiancée, Alison, and his son Gabriel at the time.
Hill notably portrayed Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 Oscar-winning epic “Titanic” and brought King Théoden to life in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
His career breakthrough came with his compelling portrayal of Yosser Hughes in the 1982 BBC TV drama “Boys from the Blackstuff,” a poignant depiction of unemployment struggles in Liverpool.
