Manchester City star, Phil Foden has been named the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) player of the season.
The Manchester City forward was voted winner from a list of eight nominees, which included Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Virgil van Dijk, and Ollie Watkins.
This marks the fifth year in a row that a Manchester City player has won this award. Previous winners include Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne (twice), and Ruben Dias.
Foden has had an impressive season, scoring 25 goals (17 in the EPL) and making 11 assists. His performance has helped Manchester City edge closer to a potential sixth EPL title.
Speaking after receiving the award, Foden said “To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of.
“The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs.
“Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season.
“I’d like to thank all of the City staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.
“And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as the award means a lot.”
Phil Foden, who came up through Manchester City’s academy, also won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles earlier this season.
He has the chance to win more trophies when City play their final league game against West Ham on Sunday and the FA Cup final against Manchester United on May 25.
Meanwhile, Chelsea star, Cole Palmer was also named the Hublot 2023/24 Young Player of the Season after an incredible performance this year.
