The autopsy report on the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, couldn’t determine the cause of his death.

Why Autopsy Failed To Reveal Cause Of Mohbad's Death - Pathologist

Wahab Shittu, the family’s lawyer, stated that the pathologist, Prof. Sunday Osiyemi, couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason for Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Osiyemi, who conducted the autopsy at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), informed the Lagos Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that due to the delay in conducting the autopsy (about 21 days) and the subsequent decomposition of the body, determining the cause of death was not possible.

Mohbad’s family lawyer xplained that the pathologist mentioned various factors contributing to the inconclusive result.

He noted that while the cause of death remained uncertain, it might be linked to reactions from drugs administered before Mohbad’s death.

Shittu, however, emphasized that it’s premature to draw conclusions until the full autopsy report is examined and the pathologist is cross-examined in court.

“According to him (pathologist), the cause of death cannot be determined and he gave a lot of reasons.

“He said that by the time they conducted the test, the body had decomposed and that it is not possible for them to determine the cause of death.

“In summary, he is saying that the cause of death cannot be ascertained. When you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear, no particular reason.

“But he also went further to say that it may be attributed to reaction to certain drugs administered to him before he died. Again, he said that he does not know whether it was those drugs that actually led to his death.”

“This is an inquiry into the cause and manner of his death,” Shittu said.

Shittu also hinted at additional details emerging during witness testimonies regarding disputes involving Mohbad, his wife, Sam Larry and others, but he refrained from providing specifics.

He stressed the need to await the complete report before forming opinions, reminding the public to respect the expertise of the pathologist and await further legal proceedings.

The lawyer said, “What is important is that this pathologist has given his evidence and we have taken a date to cross-examine him and ask him questions on the report. Until those questions are asked, we cannot say this is the outcome.

He appealed to the public not to quickly react to the testimony of the pathologist “because the man who gave evidence as a pathologist is an expert”.

He said, “Don’t react until we have seen the full report. As I speak to you, I have not seen the full report, and I don’t want to quote the pathologist out of context. The court has advised that we apply for the full report.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Lagos State Police Command also confirmed that it has not received Mohbad’s autopsy report.
