The ongoing social media dispute between controversial singer, Portable and Afrobeats superstar, Davido has intensified with a series of public accusations and actions.
The conflict between the two artists started when Portable accused Davido of giving him misleading advice during a recent dinner in Atlanta, United States.
According to Portable, Davido, who is signed to Sony Music, advised him against joining the same label and instead suggested signing with Empire.
Portable perceived this as dishonest, claiming that like Davido, he also aims to win a Grammy. He voiced concerns that joining Empire might not support his Grammy ambitions as effectively as Sony Music could.
“You are signed to Sony Music, but you’re giving me bad advice in America to get signed to Empire and collect advance. The same Grammy you’re chasing is what I’m also chasing,” he stated.
In response to the public criticism, Davido, feeling betrayed after treating Portable to dinner and gifting him designer shoes in the US, unfollowed the “Zazoo Zeh” hitmaker on Instagram.
Portable retaliated against the move by launching another verbal attack in a video shared on his Instagram page, in which he accused Davido of trying to destroy him.
The singer who called Davido all sorts of names claimed that he doesn’t need the DMW boss’ support or Instagram follow to succeed as an artist or achieve a Grammy.
In a video message shared on his Instagram page, Portable said, “They tried to destroy me and quickly unfollowed me because I stopped being beneficial to them. Whether you help me or not, I will do my tour; whether you follow me or not, I will collect Grammy.”
Portable also referred to Davido as a failure and emphasized that he would never associate with failure. He said he was alone in the US when Davido invited him and didn’t give him a verse for a song.
