Fire erupted at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos.
It was gathered that fire incident occurred on Wednesday at the effluent treatment plant (ETP).
An ETP is a type of wastewater treatment method which is specifically designed to purify industrial wastewater for its reuse — to release safe water to the environment from the harmful effects caused by the effluent.
Anthony Chiejina, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Dangote Group, in a swift statement, said that the fire was quickly contained and there is no need for concern.
The statement read: “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating normally, and there are no recorded injuries or bodily harm to any of our staff on duty.”
A video of the fire, showing thick dark smoke rising from one of the tank storages, was shared on social media.
