Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has announced the appointment of three new second-class Emirs for Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, announced that Alhaji Muhammad Karaye, previously the District Head of Rogo, is now the Emir of Karaye.
Alhaji Muhammad Umar, formerly the District Head of Bunkure, is now the Emir of Rano.
Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya, who was the Emir of the old Gaya emirate, has been reinstated as the Emir of Gaya.
The governor urged the new Emirs to promote culture, peace, and unity in their regions.
The statement added, “While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, Governor Abba Yusuf enjoined them to be custodians of culture, peace, and unity of the people in their respective emirates.”
The new law signed by the governor establishes that the Rano emirate covers Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government Areas.
The Gaya emirate includes Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government Areas. The Karaye emirate covers Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas.
This comes barely 48 hours after Kano State High Court issued a restraining order preventing Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero from presenting himself as the Emir of Kano.
