A Nigerian lawyer has advised legendary highlife musician, Mike Ejeagha to sue skit maker Brain Jotter for using his now viral song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”.
Brain Jotter recently used Mike Ejeagha’s classic highlife song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” to start a challenge, which inspired many, including celebrities, to create their own versions.
Following the success of the challenge which is still gaining popularity, Brain Jotter shared a screenshot on social media, claiming he paid Ejeagha N2 million for using his song.
This move has sparked a lot of debate online, with some praising Brain Jotter for his gesture and others expressing different views.
A lawyer, known as Nupe Lawyer on X, highlighted the issue of copyright infringement, arguing that Ejeagha could earn more by suing Brain Jotter instead of accepting the N2 million.
“I hope the man has a good lawyer😀 you can’t use someone’s song for content raking millions and offer to give the man “2million” as if you are helping the man🤷♂️,” he wrote.
