The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of crypto billionaire Linus Williams, popularly known as BLord, in Abuja on Tuesday.
BLord was arrested in Abuja due to allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and aiding internet fraud among other charges against his companies.
Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrest, stating that complaints had been lodged against BLord’s companies.
According to him, these complaints involve charges of cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and failing to comply with regulations.
Adejobi assured that the police would thoroughly investigate the matter, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and secure cyberspace.
Adejobi said, “Yes, we have him with us. The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology.
“These offences include allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
“We will do due diligence in our investigation. Our cyberspace must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
The police spokesman also denied that BLord’s arrest was related to a petition from Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
