Watch Onyeka Onwenu’s Performance At Birthday Party Before Her Death [Video]

A video circulating on social media shows the moment legendary Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu was performing at an event in Lagos before her death.

KanyiDaily reported that Onyeka Onwenu collapsed on Tuesday night, July 30, while performing at the birthday party of Mrs Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

It was gathered that the 72-year-old singer was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she was pronounced dead.

Although her family hasn’t officially announced her death, attendees at the party confirmed the sad news.

“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped. She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” an eyewitness said.

Another attendee said, “I have never seen anything like this before. She had just come down from the stage after performing energetically and admirably as always. And went to her seat where she slumped. It is still like a dream.”

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2022, Onyeka Onwenu revealed that staying unhappy married would have killed her which is why she divorced her husband.
