Voting in the ongoing Edo State governorship election has finally begun at Okaegben Ward One, Unit 3, Ewohimi, the polling unit of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
It was gathered that the delay was caused by the late arrival of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
While INEC officials were delayed, voters had arrived as early as 7 AM, along with security personnel and journalists, who were left waiting for the election to begin.
Asue Ighodalo has expressed his disapproval over the late arrival of electoral materials at his polling unit, Okaigben Ward 1, Unit 3.
The PDP candidate, who spoke to reporters upon arriving at the polling center at 10:30 AM, also condemned the arrest of key party leaders in Uromi, Esan North East LGA.
The Edo State governorship elections are taking place today, with over 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party candidate in the ongoing Edo State governorship election, Olumide Akpata, has cast his vote.
