Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie is facing heavy criticism for endorsing Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, ahead of the Edo State governorship election.

Mercy Johnson, whose husband Prince Okojie is also a politician in Edo State, was seen campaigning for Okpebholo at a rally in Ward 6, Irruekpen, Esan West LGA.

In a video circulating online, the actress urged women to persuade their families to vote for Okpebholo, calling him the key to bringing much-needed improvements to the state.

The actress passionately addressed the crowd, highlighting issues like lack of electricity, water, healthcare, security, and good roads, and encouraging them to vote for APC.

“Are you not tired? No light, water, healthcare, security and good roads. If you will vote for Senator Monday, raise your hand…So when you get to that field early in the morning, vote for Monday, vote for APC, vote for the broom,” she said.

The video has gone viral on Twitter (X), sparking widespread backlash from netizens who criticized her support for the candidate.
