Tito Jackson, a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 70.
Known for classic hits like “ABC” and “I Want You Back,” Tito Jackson’s death was confirmed by his sons in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Although the cause of death has not yet been disclosed, the Jackson family is grieving the loss of another musical icon.
Tito performed alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, who passed away in 2009.
Family friend and former manager, Steve Manning told Entertainment Tonight that Tito passed away on Monday.
The news was also shared by his three sons—Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson—who formed the R&B/pop group 3T in the 1990s.
In their Instagram post, they wrote: “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken.
“Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as “Coach Tito” or some know him as “Poppa T.”
“Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be “Tito Time” for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is “Love One Another.” We love you, Pops.
“Your boys, Taj, Taryll and TJ.”
Tito was set to perform alongside The Jacksons, Billy Ocean, and The Pointer Sisters in an upcoming concert on October 25, 2024, at Hard Rock Live in Atlantic City.
Another show was planned for November 1, 2024, at Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom, celebrating decades of iconic pop and R&B music that shaped generations.
Tito Jackson was the last of the Jackson siblings to land a solo single on the Billboard charts with his 2016 hit, “Get It Baby.”
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2011, Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray was sentenced to four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the singer’s death.
