Nigeria’s Flora Ugwunwa has won a silver medal in the women’s Javelin F54 event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Flora Ugwunwa finished second with a throw of 19.26m, behind Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova, who set a world record with a throw of 21.12m.
This achievement marks Nigeria’s first medal in the women’s Javelin category at the games, bringing the country’s total medal count to four.
The 40-year-old Ugwunwa continues her impressive streak at the Paralympics, adding this silver to her collection of two previous gold medals from Rio and Tokyo.
Elham Salehi of Iran claimed the bronze with a throw of 16.24m.
Team Nigeria’s other medalists include Onyinyechi Mark, Eniola Bolaji, and Esther Nworgu.
