The lawmaker, who represents Aba North and South, appeared in court following accusations of assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, near his home in Abuja.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared, showed Ikwechegh allegedly slapping Abuwatseya during a confrontation on October 27 in the Maitama area, sparking public backlash.

Stephen Abuwatseya subsequently filed a complaint on October 28, citing assault and threats to his safety.
