Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has now overtaken Amazon’s Jeff Bezos as the world’s second-richest person.
Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth reached $206 billion on Friday, putting him just behind Tesla’s Elon Musk, who holds the top spot with $256 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Jeff Bezos, meanwhile, slipped to third with a net worth of $205 billion after a $2.6 billion drop in his fortune.
Meta’s stock has surged 23% since better-than-expected second-quarter sales, driven by the company’s investment in AI, particularly large language models.
As of Thursday, Meta’s stock hit a record high of $582.77.
Zuckerberg has been investing significantly in AI infrastructure, building data centers and computing resources to position Meta as a leader in the industry. The company is also pushing forward with projects like its Orion augmented reality glasses, introduced last month.
This year, Zuckerberg’s wealth has grown by $78 billion, the largest increase among the world’s 500 wealthiest people, giving him a total 13% stake in Meta.
The 40-year-old CEO has climbed four positions on the Bloomberg wealth ranking this year.
KanyiDaily recalls that in March, Jeff Bezos claimed the title of the world’s richest man, surpassing Elon Musk, while Mark Zuckerberg held the fourth position.
