The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
KanyiDaily recalls that social commentator. VeryDarkMan revealed on October 21, 2024, that Bobrisky was arrested while attempting to flee from Nigeria to the Benin Republic.
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo confirmed that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme Border because he is “a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.”
Kenneth Udo said that after interrogation, the embattled crossdresser will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
He further reassured the public that the NIS remains committed to performing its duties with professionalism and civility while overseeing the nation’s borders.
“In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, the NIS intercepted Idris Okuneye otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that Idris Okuneye is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s Borders,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky is currently under investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service over allegations of bribery.
