Seplat Energy and NEPL Lauded for Boosting Education in Delta Communities

The NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Seplat Energy Joint Venture have received high praise for their commitment to education, as they provided crucial resources to primary schools in Delta State communities. The donation, which includes classroom furniture, educational materials, and landscaping equipment, was celebrated during an event at Onyeburu Primary School in Jesse, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

His Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, the Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom, applauded the NEPL/Seplat JV’s efforts, calling the gesture “a remarkable contribution to the community and a model for corporate social responsibility.” Emphasizing the impact of the donation, King Whiskey remarked, “Education is essential, and Seplat’s dedication to our communities shows their commitment to our children’s future.

The initiative, part of the Seplat Educational Empowerment Drive (SEED), is geared toward supporting sustainable development by enhancing educational access and infrastructure across NEPL/Seplat’s host communities.

Representing Seplat Energy at the event, Stanley Opara, Manager of Corporate Communications, reiterated the JV’s commitment to fostering educational growth in the region.

Speaking on behalf of Ayodele Olatunde, The Managing Director of Western Assets, Seplat Energy,  Opara shared that the donations aim to provide students with essential tools for academic success. “Education is the foundation of strong communities, and through SEED, we aim to create inspiring learning environments that equip students with skills for a brighter future”.

Students and educators expressed gratitude, with Comrade Iwonisa Freeborn, headmaster of Onyeburu Primary School, noting that the donated lawnmowers and textbooks would “improve the learning environment, allowing students to focus more effectively on their studies.”

Felix Oghenekevwe, a fifth-grader, expressed his thanks on behalf of his peers, saying, “We are very happy to receive these gifts from Seplat. Thank you!

With this educational drive, Seplat and NEPL continue to champion sustainable development and youth empowerment in Delta State, setting a powerful example of community engagement and corporate responsibility.
