Nigerian rapper, Falz has opened up about the ongoing conflict with social media activist, VeryDarkMan, over the bribery allegations involving popular crossdresser, Bobrisky.
In a recent interview with Adesope, a media personality, Falz was asked about VeryDarkMan’s activism.
Falz responded by saying he wasn’t very familiar with VeryDarkMan’s work before the controversy.
He said, “I don’t know much of it, prior to the first video he shared talking about me and my dad. I hadn’t seen much of him. What I had seen was some stuff about people that didn’t have NAFDAC numbers and selling products and at the time when I saw some of those clips, I was like this person must be doing something right, this is a good course. Asides that, I haven’t seen much of his work.”
When asked about VeryDarkMan’s video attacking him and his father’, Femi Falana’s character, Falz explained:
“One day, this person thought it wise to turn on his ring light, sit down and via direct statements, insinuations and innuendos, allege that myself and my dad connived with a certain individual to manipulate justice and bribe the EFCC and adding that the reason I have done this is because I have a homosexual relationship with Bobrisky, going further to say that my posturing as an activist is false.”
Falz said the accusations made him feel terrible, especially since there was no evidence to back them up.
“Absolutely no proof. Why would you just come and allege all these things with absolutely nothing to support this statement,’ he said.
Falz said that through his lawyer, he reached out to Bobrisky who VeryDarkMan claimed had made those statements about him and his dad, and the crossdresser admitted that no money was involved.
He said, ‘’So now you have to defend yourself because he who alleges must prove. I have gone to court for defamation of character because clearly that is what this is. The case of defamation is still very much in court”
Falz also mentioned that a High Court ordered VeryDarkMan to take down the video where the allegations were made, but the activist hasn’t complied.
He said, ‘’In my defamation suit, I am going to ask for damages because that is the only remedy available in a civil suit. I would have you know that there is a criminal angle to defamation. I chose not to go that route. He could very well have been arrested.
“Now the narrative is that me and my family want to oppress this guy because we have legal muscle….Come on man! I do not look for trouble. I am always on my own. You set your ring light and began to say all these things about me and you expect me to sit down”
Falz revealed that he had spoken to VeryDarkMan on the phone, and the activist told him to sue him in court.
“He said to me shebi you are a lawyer, go to court!” This person in my opinion wanted the litigation. What he thinks that does for him, I do not know. I do not know if he thinks it will posture him as some sought of hero but he clearly wanted the litigation,” Falz added.
