Retirees of Chevron Nigeria Ltd gathered on Tuesday at the company’s headquarters in Lagos to protest over unresolved grievances.
The retirees carried placards with messages such as “We say no to dissolution of CNCPFA”, “Chevron stop discrimination against retirees”, “Nigeria is a sovereign nation: respect our laws above your policies”, “Chevron, treat us like other IOCs. Be considerate for once!”
During the protest, they expressed frustrations over delayed pension payments and criticized the outsourcing of their pension fund.
The Chevron pensioners also called on the company to clarify whether it had divested from Nigeria.
One placard highlighted their key complaints, which included: Breaking Nigerian law, disdain for pensioners, non-engagement of PenCon, and frozen pension for decades.
KanyiDaily recalls that Federal Government recently asked aviation unions to cancel their planned protest over the 50% deduction from the internal revenue of aviation agencies.
