Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended two commissioners over allegations of misconduct and neglecting their duties.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jude Chikadibia-Okpor.
Governor Nwifuru ordered the indefinite suspension of the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engineer Francis Ori.
Additionally, the Commissioner for Health and Social Development, Dr. Moses Ekuma, received a three-month suspension.
Others affected include the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, as well as the Executive Secretaries of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the State Health Insurance Agency, who were all placed on three-month suspensions.
To ensure continuity, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Health has been instructed to oversee the Ministry of Health during the commissioner’s absence.
Jude Chikadibia-Okpor stated that the suspended officials must return all government property, including vehicles, to the State Secretary of Government by Monday, November 25, 2024.
This development follows an earlier indefinite suspension of the Commissioner for Water Resources, Chinedum Nkah, for similar issues.
Governor Francis Nwifuru reiterated his administration’s dedication to fulfilling the people’s charter of needs.
