The 39-year-old Portuguese manager will join from Sporting Lisbon on November 11, signing a contract until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

KanyiDaily recalls that Manchester United dismissed Erik Ten Hag with immediate effect on Monday, October 28, after a disappointing start to the season.

In a statement on Friday, November 1, the club announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage United’s first team until Amorim takes over.

The statement reads: “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.

He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.

Ruben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Ruben joins.”

Amorim, recognized as one of Europe’s promising young coaches, brings with him a strong record, including two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting, marking their first league win in 19 years.

He’s also won the Taca da Liga three times—twice with Sporting and once with Braga.

RubenAmorim, a former Benfica and Portugal midfielder, moved into coaching in 2019 with Braga before joining Sporting in 2020.

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2023, Manchester United was considering Ruben Amorim and Zinedine Zidane to replace Erik ten Hag.
