The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK), has successfully neutralized terrorist elements and destroyed a critical food storage site in Jubillaram, a stronghold in the Lake Chad Basin’s Tumbuns area.
The operation, conducted on November 23, 2024, targeted terrorist commanders and fighters linked to recent attacks, including the assault on troops in Kareto on November 16, 2024. Intelligence reports confirmed the area served as both a sanctuary and logistical hub for the terrorists.
NAF fighter jets executed precision air interdiction strikes, decimating the food depot and associated structures camouflaged under dense vegetation. A subsequent mop-up operation using aircraft cannons ensured that fleeing terrorists were neutralized, leaving no opportunity for regrouping.
The success of the operation was enabled by days of meticulous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed the location and activities of the terrorist enclave.
The airstrike dealt a significant blow to the terrorists’ logistics and operational capabilities. By destroying their food supplies and neutralizing key fighters, the operation has disrupted their ability to launch future attacks.
Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, emphasized the mission’s importance in a statement:
“This mission demonstrates the NAF’s unwavering commitment to defending our nation and people, acting singly and supporting surface forces in counterterrorism operations. The NAF will sustain these robust independent and joint operations until all enemies of Nigeria’s prosperity and wellbeing are brought to justice.”
The recent successes of Operation Hadin Kai highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven military campaigns in neutralizing threats and securing critical regions like the Lake Chad Basin.
