The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the recent arrest of Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Earlier on Thursday, social commentator Isaac Fayose, brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, posted a photo with Bobrisky, showing them about to board a London-bound flight. ”

Shortly after, videos surfaced online showing Bobrisky being forcefully removed from the plane by airport officials.

Contrary to reports that was travelling to London, it was gathered that Bobrisky was actually taken off an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight late Thursday night as he tried to leave Nigeria.

Bobrisky took to Instagram later that night, asking Nigerians for help and claiming he sustained injuries during his arrest.

Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.

EFCC spokesperson Del Oyewale confirmed the arrest to LIB, explaining that Bobrisky was detained over allegations of bribery in an audio recording shared by social critic VeryDarkMan in October.

In the recording, an individual, believed to be Bobrisky, claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to have money laundering charges dropped.

Oyewale stated that Bobrisky was brought in for questioning after he ignored previous invitations to discuss the allegations, prompting his arrest at the airport.

This latest development follows another recent incident on October 22, when Bobrisky was arrested by Nigerian Immigration at the Seme border while attempting to flee to Benin Republic.
