Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been arrested again by the police in Owerri, Imo State.
The arrest was confirmed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, a human rights advocate, who shared the news on his official X page on Wednesday.
According to him, Speed Darlington was taken into custody while performing at a show in Owerri, just days after his return to Nigeria.
Adeyanju wrote, “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
The reason for the arrest remains unknown as efforts to contact the Nigeria Police Force for clarification were unsuccessful.
Speed Darlington’s arrest may be linked to allegations of cyberstalking fellow musician Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy.
KanyiDaily recalls that the musician was previously arrested and detained in Lagos, later transferred to Abuja, and held by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area.
After spending several days in detention, Speed Darlington was eventually released after meeting his bail condition.
