VeryDarkMan Detained, To Be Arraigned For Unauthorized Use Of Police Uniform

The incident began when a viral video showed VeryDarkMan, dressed in what looked like a police uniform, introducing himself as the “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the online division.”

Authorities launched an investigation to determine how he obtained the police attire and under what authority he acted in the video.

VeryDarkMan, also known as Mr. Martins Otse, was detained by police on Thursday after responding to a formal summons.

His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, posted on X that his client had previously honored a similar invitation the day before.

“Our client, VDM, has been detained after honouring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in stating that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not,” Adeyanju wrote.

On Friday, the police confirmed that VeryDarkMan would be arraigned in court on charges related to the unauthorized use of police uniforms and impersonation.

In a statement on X, they emphasized that the FCT Police Command is handling the case to reinforce the importance of protecting the force’s symbols and preventing their misuse.
