Nigerian-American rapper, Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr, popularly known as OG Maco, has died at the age of 32 after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to TMZ, OG Maco was admitted to the hospital on December 12 after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He spent two weeks in a coma before his condition worsened, leading to his critical status.
The rapper had faced various health challenges throughout his life, including a serious car accident in 2016 that almost cost him his right eye, and an infection in 2019 caused by flesh-eating bacteria.
The rapper, who is best known for his 2014 hit “U Guessed It,” was confirmed dead by his family on social media.
In their emotional statement, the family said: “With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco.
“His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love. Through his music, passion, and unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact.
“While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived – one that will continue to inspire and uplift others. Maco’s influence, both as an artist and as a person, will remain forever etched in our hearts.”
The statement concluded with a message of gratitude: “For those who wish to offer condolences, share memories, or connect with the family, please reach out through this account. Your support means more than words can express.

“U Guessed It” helped Maco gain major attention, earning a Billboard Hot 100 hit, and later securing a record deal with the Atlanta-based label Quality Control, which also signed artists like Quavo, Lil Baby, and Offset.
