A Nigerian pastor, Abel Damina, has stirred controversy by suggesting that if the Catholic Church encouraged its members to read the Bible, they would leave the church.
In a recent viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the televangelist alleged that the Catholic Church discourages its members from reading the Bible independently.
He said, “If the Catholic Church encouraged their members to read the Bible, nobody would be there by now because all the things they are doing will be exposed, so they make sure they discourage them from reading only what the father says is final.”
Pastor Abel Damina, who also criticized the Holy Communion, claimed that Catholics are not equipped to engage in meaningful biblical discussions.
While emphasizing that his remarks were not an attack, he stated that he aimed to “shed light” on the matter.

KanyiDaily recalls that Pastor Abel Damina was recently accused of impregnating another man’s wife and having an affair with a man’s daughter, shocking many in the Christian community.
