Queen Naomi is being held at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan alongside Hamzat and Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School due to a tragic stampede that left 35 people dead in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Their detention was ordered by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Iyaganku on Tuesday while awaiting legal advice from the Oyo State director of public prosecutions.

The three are accused of conspiracy, murder, and negligence in connection with a December 18 stampede at a Christmas funfair organized by Naomi’s foundation, Women in Need of Guidance and Support (WINGS), in collaboration with Agidigbo FM.

During an Instagram live session on Friday, December 27, Opeyemi Aiyeola spoke about the risks of hosting charity events, referencing the ongoing case.

The actress also addressed online claims suggesting superstitious and ritualistic links to the accusations against Naomi and Hamzat.

Opeyemi stated that she would rather focus on helping her family directly instead of organizing public giveaways.

She wrote, “I am no longer doing giveaways. I am done. I have family members that need help. I will do my giveaway with them.

“If helping people will land someone in prison, I am out. People should learn from the case of Alhaji Hamzat Oriyomi and The Queen Naomi.”
