Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives member for Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State, has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ikenga Ugochinyere, who is the spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), was expelled with with immediate effect.
Imo PDP Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiak, announced the decision in a statement on Friday, December 6.
He explained that Ugochinyere was removed due to gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.
“The expulsion was conveyed in a letter by the Ideato LGA chapter of the party dated December 5, 2024, and signed by the LGA Chairman, Hon. ThankGod Okeke, and the Secretary, Onyebuchi Umeh, which they addressed to the State Chairman,” the statement read.
The disciplinary committee’s report, dated November 27, 2024, outlined misconduct allegations against Ugochinyere based on Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP constitution (2017, as amended).
The report followed his suspension at the Umuopia/Umukegwu ward on October 14, 2024, for failing to attend a scheduled hearing with the ward’s Executive Committee on October 5, 2024. Despite reminders sent on October 7, 2024, he did not respond.
During a December 5 meeting, the Ideato North LGA Executive Committee unanimously adopted the disciplinary committee’s findings. As a result, Ugochinyere was expelled and is no longer recognized as a PDP member in his ward or Ideato North LGA.
The party accused Ugochinyere of multiple violations, including skipping meetings and party activities, publicizing internal disputes without authorization, creating parallel party structures, and breaching the party’s constitution.
He was also aactions that allegedly tarnished the PDP’s image.
