President Bola Tinubu has revoked Yazid Danfulani’s appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF) and the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (PAGMI).
This decision came just hours after an announcement on Friday by a presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, which detailed several new appointments.
The earlier announcement had highlighted Danfulani’s academic background, noting his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Arts and Management from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
In a subsequent statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the cancellation was attributed to the lack of a vacancy in the agency.
The statement further clarified that Fatima Umaru Shinkafi, who previously held the position, would continue as the Executive Secretary of SMDF/PAGMI.
Shinkafi was initially appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari and has been recognized as a key player in driving reforms within the solid minerals sector.
“The President also approved the renewal of the appointment of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi as the executive secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).
“She was first appointed to the job by President Buhari and is said to be one of the driving forces behind the changes in the solid mineral sector.
“The earlier announcement about the appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI has been cancelled as there is no vacancy in the agency,” the statement partly read.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Affairs.
