Nigerian singer, Skales has criticized police officers in Lagos for allegedly harassing him after he refused to give them “Christmas money.”
The singer shared the details of the encounter, which he said took place on Tuesday, December 3, while he was on his way to an interview at City FM in Lagos.
In an Instagram post, Skales described the police officers as acting aggressively, pointing guns at them like criminals.
He said that after the officers finished their routine intimidation tactics, they demanded “Christmas money.”
Skales refused, explaining that they were late for the interview, which led the officers to threaten to delay and search the vehicle.
The singer said that despite being searched and finding no wrongdoing, the police continued their harassment.
He laughed off their attempts to intimidate him and stood firm, even when they found cash in the car, accusing him of withholding money.
According to him, they also asked for papers, but after finding nothing else, they let him go, warning him that they could have caused more trouble.
Skales expressed his deep dislike for the Nigerian police, calling them corrupt and disrespectful, saying he would never respect them.
He said, ‘’Nigerian police will not stop being a joke …so yesterday the Nigerian police under the bridge close to magodo as if you’re going to fela shrine/agidingbi stopped us on our way to city fm last night & displayed plenty madness of pointing guns at us as if we were criminals after they finished their usual b.s they now asked for money for Christmas then I said I swear I’m not giving and we are late for an interview … they said a lot of rubbish .. that they would delay us and search us … and I said my level of h@tred for this joke called Nigerian police force will not let me want to ever be at your mercy so we dropped for them to search.. this stupid Nigerian police men saw bundles of cash and started saying ok so you get money you no want give us we go show you today..
