President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman for winning the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year.
In a statement from his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President also praised Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for being named CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year and the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
These achievements were announced at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday night.
The President expressed his pride, saying, “These athletes embody the essential Nigerian Spirit. They signpost the best in us as a nation. Let no one ever write us off. I am incredibly proud of them.
‘‘Thank you for making Nigeria proud and keeping our flag flying. Thank you for winning medals for Nigeria both at home and abroad. You will win more in the future.”
President Tinubu joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the athletes, calling them true ambassadors for Nigeria who have showcased their talents and brought pride to the country on both the African and global stages.
He believes this recognition by Africa’s top football authority will motivate other young athletes to stay focused and continue chasing their dreams.
The President emphasized that their dedication and hard work align with his administration’s commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
